Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performing, and which is now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to be in her place in the "child prodigy" category. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen was welcomed into this caring haven on August 17 1920, located in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the famous Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as a kid and was very good at them. Her ability to perform was a perfect complement to her interest in sports. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. When she turned 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater and operatic singing.
